The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc.  The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

 Position Overview:

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION         

The Business Services Directorate (BSD) provides cross-functional operational and logistical support across the Frederick National Laboratory as well as the National Cancer Institute.  One component of the BSD is Scientific Publications, Graphics & Media (SPGM).  SPGM provides customized and professional writing, editing, design, illustration, and document processing and formatting services designed to help both scientists and non-scientists communicate effectively for internal or external purposes.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Technical Editor II will:

  • Edit, rewrite, and authenticate standard operation procedures, technical clinical reference manuals and/or marketing publications, as well as other related documents  
  • Review, edit and draft changes to controlled documents
  • Interact with technical experts regarding document creation, editing and control  
  • Receive text from clinical/technical staff and rewrite documentation in a clear and concise style  
  • Improve editorial and visual standards for documents and recommends new designs, layouts and procedures as needed

                                                      **THIS IS A TEMPORARY PART-TIME POSITION**

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree.  Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of related experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
