The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc.  The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

 Position Overview:


The Environment, Health and Safety Directorate is responsible for environmental protection, occupational safety and health, protective services, and emergency preparedness programs at the National Cancer Institute at Frederick.


The Secretary III will: 

  • Provide procurement support to a large customer base of laboratory staff, both Leidos Biomed and CCR (gov't), using blanket orders, purchase requisitions, credit card, and online warehouse system
  • Perform data entry into appropriate financial system component (CostPoint, Cor360), status checks on orders, maintenance of orders log, reconciliation of credit card transactions, maintenance of electronic filing systems
  • Provide logistical support for the facilitation of travel packages (both pre-travel and
    post travel) for Leidos Biomed employees, as well as the coordination of seminar speakers and subsequent reimbursements
  • Compose and respond to emails/correspondence
  • Communicate with all levels of personnel, both verbally and in writing, to gather and clearly convey information
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by a responsible authority


To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • In addition to educational requirements, a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible secretarial experience, including one (1) year at the level of Secretary II
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance


Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Experience working in Deltek CostPoint, Deltek Time & Expense, and Corcentric
  • Experience working in the Purchasing Support Request System (PSRS) using the Jira platform
