The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc.  The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

 Position Overview:

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION         

The Environmental Health and Safety Directorate is responsible for environmental protection, occupational safety and health, protective services, and emergency preparedness programs at the National Cancer Institute at Frederick.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports and administers organizational security and emergency management plans and operations. Executes procedures and processes to provide physical protection for personnel and company property and meet required codes and regulations. Trains security staff to ensure competency requirements are met and maintained. Supports the Security Dispatch and Emergency Operations Centers through the conduct of drills and as assigned during events, incidents, and emergencies. Compiles data for loss control and accident reports. Supports and conducts internal reviews and investigations in accordance with legal requirements and company policies. Maintains records, manuals and documentation. For companies with government contracts, coordinates and administers security policies and procedures in accordance with the NIH and Department of Defense (as required).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Possession of Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) appropriate to safety, security and emergency management operations or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree.  Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of related experience
  • Must demonstrate some knowledge and efficiency with relevant regulatory requirements and actions and programs required to comply with DHS, OSHA, FEMA, NIH, DoD requirements as they relate to safety, security, and emergency management functions
  • Must demonstrate good knowledge of security operations and practices and possess good communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and web-based applications
  • Familiarity with data entry and use of a variety of information systems and tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
