 Position Overview:

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION         

The mission of Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) is to develop an enterprise-level, consolidated information technology infrastructure that provides exceptional IT capabilities to the Frederick National Labs for Cancer Research (NCI-Frederick/FNLCR) in support of basic, translational, and clinical cancer and AIDS research. The IT Operations Group (ITOG) is a part of Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) within Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. ITOG is responsible for computational servers, storage servers, virtual machine infrastructure, and the FNLCR network. ITOG focuses on implementing enterprise IT best practices in the areas of computational services, storage, backup, and archiving; batch and application support; server consolidation and virtualization; network infrastructure; unification of voice, teleconferencing, and video communication technologies; and improved infrastructure for collocation of dedicated servers. 

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides Tier II/III operational support of voice, video and integration with data communications networks
  • Supports the acquisition of hardware and software
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting to users
  • May perform network administration duties
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology
  • Participates in special projects
  • Maintains proper documentation of system configurations, to include drawings and standard operating procedures
  • Provides primary and backup support in the maintenance of Video and UC hardware and software
  • Works individually, actively participates in integrated teams and projects, leads multiple tasks
  • Monitors performance, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues
  • Monitors, assigns and implements Operations tickets in the UC and Network queue
  • Maintains Access Gateways
  • Maintains UC endpoints
  • Assists with user education and training 
  • Supports all users at the Frederick location(s)
  • Efficient at running BAT tool system reports, extracting detailed phone data as needed, executing end point and user imports
  • Actively involved in hardware refreshes to include new desktop IP phone models, video conference codecs and voice gateways on a wide-scale enterprise level
  • Installs, troubleshoots, maintains and coordinates the use and proper operation of network/UC environment
  • Maintains user accounts or security policies on unified communications system
  • Implements, documents, and coordinates network/UC policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs daily end user and phone updates for moves, adds and changes
  • Available for periodic evening and weekend onsite maintenance work, and OnCall support

 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree.  Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of related experience, including IT experience
  • One to two years hands-on experience and/or training in network/UC administration
  • Knowledge and experience with Cisco Unified Communications Systems, CUCM -  Cisco Unified Communication Manager, Cisco Voice DR, Video Conferencing and Collaborative Tools, Cisco Prime Collaboration, Cisco Unity Connection, PRG Presence Redundancy Groups
  • Experience supporting customers with IT issues
  • Experience in Voice and Video including: infrastructure, maintenance, support, deployment and implementation
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Two to four years hands-on experience and/or training in network/UC administration
  • Cisco phone endpoints and firmware upgrades
  • Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateways, routers, server hardware, Cisco or Extreme PoE access switches
  • Enterprise Instant Messaging (Cisco Jabber) with Presence
  • ITIL foundations certification or ability to obtain certification within 3 months
  • Associate Degree in: Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Social Science
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (BA or BS) in: Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Social Science
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) (Route or Voice)
  • Strong written and oral communications
